We work with many publicly elected boards, helping them gain clarity about their governance role so that they can manage decisions well. A good example is the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. A focal point of our work is defining in writing the SMUD Board's role.
WETA Case Study
As the $55 million public radio and television broadcasting company serving the nation's capital, WETA has enjoyed national acclaim for its quality productions - including "Washington Week," "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer" and Ken Burns' "Baseball" - during its 50-year history. In recent years, however, competition has seriously eroded WETA's 130,000-plus membership base and sent earnings on a roller coaster ride, dipping into the red for two of the past three fiscal years.
Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op Case Study
In the years since it was founded in 1973, the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op has blossomed into a $15 million business. With 7,000 members/owners, it is the second largest single-store grocery cooperative in the nation in terms of sales and volume.
